Neuropsychological Evaluations

Neuropsychological and psychological evaluations are helpful to provide diagnostic clarity to individuals, families, and referring providers. Results of our reports provide a “road-map” for guiding medical (e.g. medication management), psychological (e.g. psychotherapy), academic interventions (e.g. dyslexia reading interventions), need for special educational services and accommodations (e.g. IEP/504 Plan, extra time for college or standardized tests such as ACT / SAT / LSAT / MCAT) to optimize academic achievement and long term potential.

Evaluation Process

What do neuropsychological evaluations assess?

Our providers collect a range of information from each patient depending on the referral question(s) and concerns raised by the individual, family, and providers. The evaluation process generally includes an initial interview with the doctor, followed by a half day or full day (in some cases) of psychological/neuropsychological testing with the doctor or a trained psychometrist, followed by psychoeducational and informative feedback session with your doctor to review findings. Our doctors will provide an overview of the patient’s global level of functioning, highlight identified neuropsychological strengths and weaknesses that can be harnessed or improved upon, and will provide a detailed list of interventions and/or accommodations that will be helpful to ensure the most optimal outcomes for the patient and family. Patients will be provided with a written report following the evaluation that can be shared with the patient’s medical providers or school to inform medical treatment and academic planning.

Our doctors assess a range of psychological and personality symptoms and neuropsychological (brain-based) skills:

  • Intelligence

  • Academic Achievement

  • Language Skills

  • Social Communication

  • Visual Spatial Processing

  • Learning/Memory

  • Working Memory

  • Attention

  • Executive Functioning (e.g. planning, organization, impulsivity, shifting)

  • Processing Speed

  • Motor Skills
